IV. Course Plan
Our institute yearly recruits approximately thirty master students from diverse background, such as science, engineering, management and sociology departments. NTU offers more than ten thousand courses every year. This rich environment made possible the construction of solid foundations and development of research innovations in the field of industrial engineering, operations research, mathematics, statistics, logistics, information technology, economics, finance, management science, and technological related curriculum.
Our institute has equal emphasis in both theory and practice. Students are allowed to either focus a direction based of their interests or choose to enroll in related courses offered by other departments in the school. Our department offers graduate students a curriculum in the following:
1. Production systems and processes
2. Operations and information systems
3. Industrial analysis and technological trends
4. Measurement analyzing methods
Master students curriculum rules are the following:
(Applies only to students enrolled after year 97)
1. Master students not only have to abide by the university curriculum regulations, but also finish at least twenty-five credits of master courses (not including master thesis) and fulfill the required courses and graduation credit requirement listed at the bottom.
2. Required curriculum for regular and working students
(1). Required major courses: Curriculum is divided into [Industrial
System and Service Engineering] and [Industrial Analyses and Technology Trends] by research direction. Master students have to choose one of the two course group and finish nine credits.
(2). Special Topics (M0070): One credit which belongs to a repetitive course schedule. Before passing the degree exam, students need to finish two credits during every semester.
(3). Graduate Seminar (M0080): One credit which belongs to a repetitive course schedule. Before passing the degree exam, students need to finish two credits during every semester.
(4). Master Thesis: Six credits.。

In academia, we develop a featured systematic research core of integration, engineering and management. We also pay attention to international academic exchange through hosting research conferences, inviting world-class guest speakers, participating in scholar exchange programs and world research organizations, and etc. It often involves international teleconference, in which students actively participate in the projects. In December 2002, our department proudly hosted “The 4th Asia-Pacific Conference in Industrial Engineering and Management Systems.”This event attracted four hundred participants from twenty different counties. In addition, we received five hundred and fifty thousand US dollars for our joint research with “Semiconductor Research Corp. and International Semiconductor Manufacturing Initiatives, Inc” in the United States. Our department also collaborates with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NTU. In year 2003, we began to accept both domestic and international doctoral degree applicants from mechanical engineering to join us in the field of industrial engineering and management. In the same year, we began to accept applications for Master’s Degree.
